Staff members at Comm-Tech, your mobile communications supplier, have raised over £800 for a prostate cancer charity by taking part in ‘Movember’, effectively becoming ‘mo bros’ and ‘mo sistas’ for a month by growing moustaches and leg hair respectively.
Movember is a worldwide fundraising event that encourages men to nurture a moustache during November to help raise awareness of men’s health issues and at the same time gain sponsorship money that will go to The Prostate Cancer Charity to help with research for prevention and treatment.
Eight employees across Comm-Tech and its sister companies RPC Recycle and Juice Telecoms have been nurturing their finest moustaches possible, including a couple of classic handlebar examples in the marketing team. Two women in the Comm-Tech sales team decided to grow their leg hair for the full month too.
Gavin Raines, marketing manager said, “The worst bit was the itchy phase, but what’s a little discomfort compared to what men suffering with prostate cancer have to go through. In the end I was quite proud of my handlebar moustache! We are all really pleased to take part, show a little male solidarity and raise funds for men’s health. A big thank you to everyone who sponsored us!”
Movember was an event started in Australia by a group of men who thought it might be fun to revive the moustache and raise awareness of men’s health issues at the same time. The idea caught on as a means to raise funds and now thousands of men around the world take part every November. Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in men and 36,000 cases are diagnosed every year in the UK.
