Apple confirm September 10 iPhone launch event

It’s official! Apple has sent out invites to a special event taking place on 10th September, widely speculated to be an iPhone-focused event. The event will take place at the Apple Campus in Cupertino at 10AM PT (6PM UK time).

It is expected that Apple will be unveiling multiple devices at the iPhone launch event, including the not-so secret ‘iPhone 5C’. Over the previous few weeks, multiple images have been leaked of this lower-end product, which will reportedly feature a colourful plastic backing. This is certainly supported by the invite, which features the phrase ‘This should brighten everyone’s day’ along with a multitude of multi-coloured dots, suggesting that a more colourful iPhone could be joining the range.

A more expensive iPhone 5 successor is also expected, which will supposedly have an improved camera, improved internals and potentially a new gold colour option.

This event is expected to be revolutionary for Apple, as it could be the first time that more than one iPhone model is announced or launched at around the same time. It is also expected to ship with iOS 7 on-board, which is Apple’s first major visual as well as functional overhaul of the original iOS.

If Apple do announce a lower-end device, it will finally be extending the global product reach to developing markets which may have previously been priced out of the premium Apple iPhone range.

The new iPhone, or iPhones, are expected to begin shipping around September 20th. We will keep you up to date with all the latest news here as well as on our Twitter and LinkedIn feeds!
