Comm-Tech Questions
Lost & Stolen

In the event of loss or theft of your handset you will need to inform your service provider immediately. In the event of theft, contact your local police station to obtain a crime reference number. This will be required for insurance claim purposes.

After reporting your phone missing or stolen the network will place a bar on the IMEI (international Mobile Equipment Identity) number. This will then deem your handset useless to anyone who tries to use it.

Problems receiving text messages

If you find you are no longer receiving text messages from anybody, usually this is due to your phone simply not updating on the network for one reason or another. This fault can be fixed two ways.

  1. Remove the battery from the handset whilst the phone is still on. Keep the battery out of the handset for approx 10 minutes and then replace the battery and switch on the handset. You should start to receive text messages within a few minutes.

  2. Activate a manual roam. To do this you will need to locate the network settings option on your handset and select the manual network search mode. Once this is located you need to allow the phone to search for all available networks. Once complete, try to select one a network which is not your usual network, i.e. if you are on Vodafone try to select O2 for example. The phone will then prompt you with a error message similar to "not allowed" and then should return to the network selection menu where here you can select the correct network from the list. The phone will then except this and return you to the main screen. Your messages should then start to be received. Once this is complete it is advisable to return to the network selection settings and return it to automatic selection. Refer to the manufacturers handbook if you are having problems in locating the network settings menu.
